Every once in a while, a photoshoot comes together so perfectly that you know it’s going to be one you’ll remember for a long time. This year’s Boat Shoot at Oak Bay Marina was exactly that kind of day.
The weather couldn’t have been better. The sun was shining, the sky was a brilliant blue, and the marina provided the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of creativity and collaboration.
Our location for the shoot was the beautiful yacht Satya, generously made available thanks to my friend Michael. Having access to such a stunning vessel created endless opportunities for portraits that felt both elegant and relaxed, with the marina and ocean views adding to the atmosphere.
One of my favourite things about organizing shoots like this is bringing together a group of talented and enthusiastic models who are willing to experiment, collaborate, and help create something special. Each model brought their own unique style and personality to the shoot, resulting in a wonderful variety of images throughout the afternoon.

I’d also like to give special thanks to Emily Rain for creating an amazing behind-the-scenes reel from some of the video clips captured during the event. It’s always fun to see the experience from a different perspective and relive the day through video.
As photographers, we often spend so much time focused on lighting, locations, and camera settings that it’s easy to forget what makes these events truly memorable: the people. The conversations, the laughter between shots, the shared excitement when we know we’ve captured something special. Those moments are what keep me coming back for more.
The images below represent just a small sample of what we created together during our time aboard the yacht. I’m incredibly pleased with the results and grateful to everyone who helped make the event such a success.
