CNIB Guide Dog Graduation – Too Cute for Words!

April 29, 2026

Timothy West

I was invited by Corbin to photograph the 2026 CNIB Guide Dog Graduation here in Victoria, and as always, I was happy to donate my time for an event like this. It’s one of those assignments that feels bigger than photography. You’re not just documenting a moment, you’re witnessing the start of something life changing.

The event brought together graduates, their new guide dogs, and the community that supports them. There’s a real sense of connection in the room. You see it in the way people interact with their dogs, in the quiet focus during the ceremony, and in the smiles once everything becomes official. These partnerships are built on trust, and it shows immediately.

From a photography standpoint, I kept things simple and unobtrusive. Moments like this don’t need heavy direction. My goal was to stay present and let things unfold naturally. The dogs, especially the Labradors, have such a calm and attentive presence. They’re incredibly photogenic, but more importantly, they carry a sense of purpose that comes through in every frame.

I spent time capturing a mix of portraits, candid interactions, and small details that help tell the story of the day. A quick glance between handler and dog. A quiet moment on the floor before the ceremony. The energy of the group as everyone came together. These are the moments that matter.

This kind of work is ideal for organizations, community events, and anyone looking to document something meaningful without it feeling staged. It’s about storytelling, not just coverage.
If you’re planning an event like this or want to document something important to you or your organization, feel free to reach out. I’m always open to meaningful collaborations.

A selection of images from the session is included below.
