I had a different experience from the normal photography photo shoot. I went whale watching to watch Humpback Whales in their natural habitat and to take some photos of these beautiful creatures. They’re quite large (around 30-40 tons) and approx 30 – 40 feet in length but are truly gentle and curious giants. Very intelligent and we were blessed that the ones we found off the coast of Victoria were happy to come and say hello. BC Whale Tours offers amazing trips year round to see the animals in the Straits of Juan de Fuca and the Pacific Ocean. On this particular trip we encountered several Humpback whales, some harbor porpoises, eagles, sea lions (both Stellar and California sealions), seals and other ocean animals. Truly a wonderful trip and I can’t wait to go again.
Thank you to Captain Tom for squeezing me in on the trip and to Captain Russ for the smile (they have other boats and I managed to capture his smile for the camera…even on the water I’m looking to do portraits 🙂 )
