I recently had the chance to photograph the new Cedar Grove Spa, and they have created something pretty special.
Deanna had everything organized for the shoot, which made it easy to focus on capturing the space and all the details that make it unique. She and her mom even stepped in to model for a few photos, helping bring some life and scale to the different areas of the spa.
The space itself is stunning. Built almost entirely from cedar, Cedar Grove Spa feels warm, natural, and incredibly inviting. There is a cold plunge, hot tub, sauna, comfortable seating areas, and an outdoor firepit that ties everything together.
From a photography perspective, I wanted the images to show more than just what the space looks like. The goal was to capture what it feels like to spend time there. The textures of the cedar, the contrast between the hot and cold experiences, the outdoor setting, and those quiet spaces designed for relaxing all helped tell the story.
Photographing a location like this is about finding the right balance between wider images that show the overall design and closer details that give people a sense of the craftsmanship and atmosphere. Adding Deanna and her mom into a few of the images also helped show how the space is actually meant to be enjoyed.
This type of shoot is ideal for spas, wellness businesses, boutique accommodations, and other businesses that want professional images that communicate the experience they offer, not just the physical space.
